Ford Employees lend a hand

Ford has a long history of supporting and helping members of the military and their families. The company also dedicated its most recent Ford Accelerated Action Day exclusively to this group of people, addressing their urgent needs.

This was the fourth Accelerated Action Day of 2009. The previous three focused on addressed the needs of children and families, the environment and community building projects. The final Ford Accelerated Action Day of the year is December 4 when Ford will help feed the hungry under the theme of Giving and Sharing.

Ford encourages salaried employees to take two work days per year and volunteer in their local area. Last year, more than 20,000 Ford employees and retirees performed 100,000 hours of work on community projects – the equivalent of $2 million of in-kind corporate contributions.

Teams of Ford volunteers painted, made repairs and brightened the lives of people at veterans facilities in southeast Michigan and Washington, D.C.

“The men and women of the armed forces defend our freedom each and every day, a gift we do not take lightly,” said Janet Lawson, director, Ford Volunteer Corps. “We want to thank our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice, but more than that, our volunteers want to give something back to those who have given so much for us.”

2010 Ford Taurus named official vehicle of 2010 International CES

Ford announced today that its new 2010 Ford Taurus will be the official vehicle of the 2010 International CES show that will be held on Jan. 7-10 in Las Vegas.’
“The all-new Taurus is Ford’s technology flagship, offering more user-friendly technology to help keep you safe and connected than cars twice its price,” said Frank Davis, executive director Product Development. “And there’s no better venue to show it off than CES.”
FoMoCo’s CEO Alan Mulally will be delivering the opening keynote address at the 2010 CES show where Ford will also announce upgrades to its Ford SYNC system.
The 2010 Ford Taurus is available at dealerships nationwide with prices starting at $25,995.

Ford Work Solutions and SYNC pick up CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards

Ford will be picking up two awards at the International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2010 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards for its Ford Work Solutions and SYNC system.
“Our customers want the latest in connectivity and technology – making their drive experience more enjoyable and convenient,” said Mark Fields, president, The Americas, Ford Motor Company. “We’re honored that CES has recognized our efforts in providing these customer-driven features.”
Ford Work Solutions’ in-dash computer took the 2010 Best of Innovations in the category of In-Vehicle Accessories, while the company’s SYNC applications, Traffic, Directions & Information, was honored in the category of In-Vehicle Navigation/Telematics/ITS (Intelligent Transportation System).

Ford Fusion moves into America’s Top 10 selling vehicles’ list

Ford Fusion moves into America’s Top 10 selling vehicles’ list

Ford Motor Co. announced today that the Ford Fusion sedan has entered into the list of America’s Top 10 selling vehicles and has become the No. 1 selling domestic car. So far in 2009, Ford has sold 151,137 units, passing the previous Fusion full-year sales high of 149,552 in 2007.
“It’s extraordinary that a car could set a sales record in an environment where overall industry sales are down 26 percent from a year ago,” Ford sales analyst George Pipas said.
Ford said that sales of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid account for almost 20 percent of total Fusion sedan sales. It said that 60 percent of Fusion Hybrid sales have been made to customers coming from import brands – mostly Honda and Toyota.
